Food Pantry
Alamance began its Food Pantry ministry over a decade ago to serve hungry families in our community. Every Saturday morning, volunteers gather to pack grocery carts full of fresh meat and vegetables, canned goods, baked goods, and desserts. We partner with Second Harvest Food Bank, Food Lion, Southeast Middle School, Peacehaven Farms, other congregations in our area to supply the food for our clients. Clients may come to the pantry once a month for six months. We serve as many as 30 families every week.
The pantry distributes food once a week, but our volunteers are hard at work all week long scheduling clients, picking up food, stocking our shelves and freezers, and packing carts. Many of our volunteers come from other churches, school groups, scouts, and the Fire Department. The APC Food pantry is truly a community effort.
